Carla graduated from the University of Montpellier in France. She further pursued her career and expanded her knowledge in the field of oral surgery and CAD/CAM technology. Carla has worked in many countries around the world such as France, Germany, New Caledonia, Vietnam and Laos allowing her to gain a wealth of international experience. She is fluent in German, French and English.
“I always knew I wanted to help people, which is why I decided to go into the medical profession. I decided to specialise in dentistry because of the wide range of fields that I could explore. This need to discover is also the reason why I went on a volunteering trip to Laos. Doing a job which enables me to help people every day, brings me much joy.
I have lived in many countries which has given me great life as well as job experience. I love to learn new cultures and meet new people. In my spare time I travel, go fishing, in particular with my husband, as well as try out any type of sport. I was a synchronised swimmer for 12 years before completing my medical studies.”

1/- Why did you decide to be a dentist?
I wanted to work as a medical professional to help other and dentistry is a very unique speciality where you have a variety oral and dental issues that you can treat with various approaches.
2/- Where did you study? Graduated?
Dental studies is 6 years. I studied in France Montpellier for 5 years and in Germany Heidelberg 1 years before achieving my final graduation in France.
3/- What are your areas of expertise?
General dentistry, Biodentistry, Minimal invasive dentistry, Cosmetic, Prosthetic, Restorative, Digital dentistry.
4/- Are they new technics / specialities that would you like to learn
Surgery and Implantology
5/- What do you like the most in your professional life?
What I like the most is looking through my loupes and work with precision on a very small scale. I requires a lot of concentration and a good hand-eye coordination.
I also like to achievement part where you solve a case and the patient is happy and grateful which makes my job meaningful.
6/- What was the most complicated case you did treat in your career?
Recently I had a patient who couldn’t afford restoring her teeth and spend 12 years without anything to properly chew. I took her in as a pro bono case. It was very difficult because we lost all references to establish a new dentition and the patient couldn’t handle anything new in her mouth. It needed time, reeducation and compromises but the end result was very satisfying.
7/- What are the most important human qualities required to be a good dentist?
Hand skills and human skills
8/- How do you deal with anxious patients?
An anxious patient has special needs. Most of them it works by listen to them understanding where the fear comes from, give them time and confidence in what your are doing. Very few cases need medication (sedation or general anesthesia)
9/- What has been your greatest accomplishment professionally speaking so far?
Working in a top-level clinic in a very competitive city like Dubai.
10/- What do you like the most coming from your patients?
Chocolate! 😉 For real what I like the most is a referral because it means that recognized for what I am doing.
11/- What do you fear the most from your patients?
Conflict.
