What do you mean by « biologicial dentistry » and how would you define it?
We are taking the whole body into consideration when you examine your patient oral health.
We merge the Western medicine (best know for the acute treatment) with the Easter medicine (so wise at dealing with chronic inflammation). We use the Meridian Dental chart to understand the link between organs, understand the flow of energy, the circulation within the body , the anatomy, the psychology, the limits of your knowledge, the biology, the medical history, and last but not least taking the time to know your patient:
How do you proceed in terms of biological examination ?
The idea for me is to connect with a patient and to understand his needs and his symptoms. So we will start with a body. We will start with asking many questions about your medical history , what are your issues? What do you feel in terms of symptoms, your medical history, and then we go deeper into the mouth.
And in the biological concept, we not only check the whole body, but we understand also that the immune system needs to be boosted before doing any dental treatment.
The consequences post operation are so much greater and the healing so much faster. So we usually don’t use drugs, any drugs, any chemicals. Anything that is something else than the name or the nature basically.
What got you into biological dentistry? Is it something you heard about before? Or how did you start your journey in this field?
That’s true that when I used to do my studies, I heard about ceramic implants, about these kind of things.
But the trigger things was one of my child who got sick a few years ago, and then I had to go deeper into researching what makes sense for a treatment.
And by just learning, educating myself into what was the right procedure for her. I found out so many different therapy, that I wanted to apply to my research into dentistry and to help my patient that way.
So it’s just about learning. It’s just about educating yourself, exploring the different possibilities of treatments, learning what is the western medicine which is very, very great when we have an acute infection. But also learning what is traditional Chinese medicine because extremely good in to treating the inflammation, the chronic inflammation.
And I guess like you said, like, once you start to understand, you believe, and that’s the best thing for you at the end of the day, like your health comes first. And if there’s other approaches into dentistry, you’re going to investigate ?
Yes we support all our therapies and protocols by scientific researches. But also you see differently the benefit you have from our patients. So when I used to do some extraction of impacted wisdom teeth, and it took three weeks of post op pain and swelling. And I used to prescribe a lot of antibiotics. A lot of drugs. And now I don’t do that anymore because by using a real good biological protocols, usually the heating is three days. You don’t have to use or to prescribe antibiotic. So the benefit to the patient is absolutely tremendous.
So less drugs, less antibiotics. What other approaches do we take in biological dentistry that compares to a convention or a dentist?
We provide detoxification so we remove from the mouth all the toxic elements that you have. So it can be the metal things, because it creates corrosion, because it creates galvanic currents, you know, the kind of shock that you can feel sometimes. So we remove systematically all the metals like mercury fillings that you can have a mouth, we prefer ceramic implants to titanium ones, and we use bio-compatible products.
In the USA for example, one of two fillings are still done with amalgams containing some mercury, because they are cheaper .It is not allowed in the Scandinavian countries, not allowed in France, in most countries in Europe. But in other many countries, because it is cheap in and out, they are still using it. The thing is that it’s not only bad when you have them in your mouth. But it’s also bad when you remove them with non healthy protocol. So we need to remove them with a smart protocol which provides us with eight layers of protection.
That’s just to avoid the mercury vapor going straight into your brain or the rest of the body. And we know that mercury stays into the brain 18 to 21 years. It is a neurotoxin, a very powerful neurotoxic which can lead to dramatic effects on your brain and your nervous system.
We are the only clinic in the UAE using the SMART protocol, and we are IAOMT Ambassadors : All our doctors are trained and certified IAOMT to use the SMART protocol, and we use also the right equipment because it’s a huge investment. Exactly. We really want to protect our patients.
What do you recommend, like supplementation…for a surgical procedure ?
What we want is to boost the immune system of our patients, so we will take your blood measure, assess your levels of vitamin D, LDL, all these kind of things, and based on the result, we will boost the immune system of the patient. When you are in what we call a “ peak shape”, then the process planned will take place, any kind of surgery, and it will be much smoother and the negative impact will be diminished.
Would you say the biological approach is slightly more expensive to conventionally dentistry?
If you are looking at short term, yes maybe but it is your health we are talking about and you’re investing into your body, your physical temple, your health in the long term.
And, you know, like, if you invest in your health and take the right approach, like, you know, later on it, you will be healthier, and you will live a better lifestyle.
It is a whole journey. I guess it’s like a partnership, isn’t it? Like you have to do your part. You can’t just rely on the dental work. You have to maintain a good lifestyle, eat healthy, exercise, all the other components to build up and contribute to your wellness and your wellbeing. And it must be sustainable in a continuous way.
