Dr. Tim Shaughnessy received his DDS degree from the University of Michigan in 1983 and his Master of Science degree in Orthodontics form the University of North Carolina in 1986. At UNC, he was the recipient of a National Research Fellowship awarded by the National Institute of Dental Research. He earned an Award of Special Merit from the American Association of Orthodontists in 1987 for his research and Master’s thesis.

 

Dr. Shaughnessy was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Emory University School of Postgraduate Dentistry from 1986 to 1992. He became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1990. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American College of Dentists, and the International College of Dentists.

 

Dr. Shaughnessy practiced orthodontics in suburban Atlanta, Georgia for 35 years. He currently practices in Dubai. Tim is a frequent speaker and has developed a reputation for his clinical photography and documentation of well-treated cases. He contributed numerous cases to the 6th edition of Contemporary Orthodontics by Drs. Proffit, Fields, Larson, and Sarver.

 

Dr. Shaughnessy is now the Clinical Director of F.O.R.C.E., a comprehensive continuing education program for general dentists who would like to incorporate some orthodontics into their private practice. The program aims to provide practitioners with increased knowledge of diagnosis, growth and development, and treatment planning.
