SAFE AMALGAM REMOVAL

Dental amalgam is a mixture of metal alloy and liquid mercury. It has been used to fill cavities for over 100 years. (see history of amalgam below). It is sometimes referred to as: silver filling or mercury filling. The main component of the material is 50% mercury which is one of the top 5 most poisonous substances on the planet!

 IS DENTAL AMALGAM HARMFUL ?

In 1991, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that mercury contained in dental amalgam is “the greatest source of mercury vapor in non-industrialized settings, exposing the concerned population to mercury levels significantly exceeding those set for food and for air”.

Mercury may be the cause of harmful effects to the nervous, digestive, respiratory, immune systems and to the kidneys, besides causing lung damage.

Adverse health effects from mercury exposure can be:

  • Tremors,
  • Impaired vision and hearing,
  • Paralysis,
  • Insomnia,
  • Emotional instability,
  • Developmental deficits during fetal development,
  • Attention deficit.

Mercury has been proven to be:

  • neuro-toxin – damaging your nervous system
  • immuno-suppressant – interfering, damaging and stopping your immune system’s normal function
  • endocrine disrupter
  • causing auto-immune disorders such as chronic fatigue

WHY IS MERCURY USED IN DENTAL AMALGAM ?

Mercury has a unique ability to bind to other metals very easily. It also is at liquid form at room temperature and can be easy to form into the desired shape. Mixed with other metals it becomes very hard and sticks well to the tooth enamel.

WHEN IS DENTAL AMALGAM MOST DANGEROUS ?

Mercury vapor is released from the dental amalgam is at the most dangerous point as this can be breathed into the lungs.

These stages are when amalgam is:

  • Placed as a dental filling – during this process, the mercury is mixed with the metals alloy and applied into the dental cavity, hence releasing mercury vapor.
  • During a tooth restoration – the heat from the friction of the dental drills will release mercury vapor.
  • During the removal of the amalgam fillings – the act of drilling into the filling releases high levels of mercury vapor.

Micro-doses of mercury vapor are also released from amalgam fillings when eating or drinking hot foods and during dental cleanings. (Any situation where heat is involved).

Once in your body, the mercury primarily is distributed between the brain and kidneys or can readily be transferred to the fetus via the placenta of the mother.

HOW DOES MERCURY ENTER THE BLOOD STREAM ?

The mercury vapor released from dental amalgam fillings enters into the lungs. From here 80% is absorbed into the blood stream.

Elemental mercury from amalgam fillings can also pass down the throat into the stomach every time you swallow where some is converted to methylmercury which is then absorbed into the blood stream.

OTHER ISSUES ASSOCIATED WITH DENTAL AMALGAM ?

Besides the obvious long-term health risks associated with mercury, some patients with amalgam fillings develop an allergy to mercury resulting in mouth conditions such as:

  • Oral Lichenoid : which are very uncomfortable lesions in the mouth.
  • Alopecia : is another common condition. The severity of alopecia has been directly related to the number of amalgam fillings – the higher the number of silver fillings – the more severe the condition.

ARE DENTAL AMALGAM FILLINGS STILL BEING USED ?

Currently, mercury fillings are still widely used around the world, with statistically 50% of all fillings placed being of dental amalgam.

While mercury fillings are still deemed “safe” by major international dental organizations, a rising body of scientific research proves otherwise.

On September 24th, 2020 the US Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A) has finally warned that Amalgam may cause health problems.

The updated FDA guidance said, it [Amalgam] could lead to health issues for those with a hypersensitivity to mercury.

OTHER ADVERSE EFFECTS OF DENTAL AMALGAM :

Mercury from dental amalgam also has a huge environmental footprint. For example, according to a report submitted to the OSPAR Commission, in the United Kingdom, 7.41 tons of mercury from dental amalgam are discharged annually into the sewer, atmosphere or land, with another 11.5 tones sent for recycling.

Once released into the environment, dental mercury will go on and contaminate our water systems and its inhabitants. The mercury toxicity of some marine animals is partially due to the amalgam problem. (For more information read here:

MUST I REMOVE DENTAL AMALGAM ?

Yes, you must remove all metallic restorations that harm you overall body. There are undisputed facts that dental amalgam fillings do raise the levels of mercury in our bodies and are one of the primary sources of mercury that we encounter in our environment.

For people with metal fillings, the daily release of mercury is approximately 4-5 μg/day, and the more amalgam fillings, the more mercury that is released. By contrast, mercury levels are reduced substantially when amalgams are removed.

The presence of mercury in fillings only adds to our toxic “load” that we are faced with every day in our ever-increasing chemical environment and some bodies handle it better than others.

The most profound evidence in the research of amalgam removal is that patients generally feel better after the procedure. This is definitely strong evidence that the mercury has affects on the body

WHAT IS THE SAFEST WAY TO REMOVE DENTAL AMALGAM FILLINGS ?

Because of Mercury’s high toxicity – many layers of protection are needed to safely remove the silver fillings.

At DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH CLINICS, we have researched the best practices around the world and have adopted the SMART protocol designed by IAOMT (The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology). We are now IAOMT ambassadors for the Middle East and all of our biological dentists are certified.

SMART PROTOCOL & Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique

The special protection measures of the SMART protocol have all been adopted by Dr. Roze & Associates with extreme care and attention to detail:

  • A dental dam is used in the patient’s mouth to ensure that no accidental ingestion of mercury vapor can occur. The dam is a special Nitrile dam that cannot be penetrated by mercury vapor.
  • A high-volume air filtration device – completed with a special “nozzle” is placed as close as possible to the oral cavity. The air filter is equipped with special, industrial grade filters specifically design to capture mercury. The nozzle works as a vacuum cleaner trapping any mercury vapor that is released from the amalgam.
  • Oxygen is delivered to the patient via a nasal mask, the patient breaths oxygen throughout the procedure to avoid inhaling any mercury vapor or amalgam particles.
  • Hair/head and body coverings are utilised.
  • Once removal of the amalgam is complete, the patient will rinse with a slurry of activated, absorbent charcoal to collect any particles.
  • The amalgam is removed in a single large piece as we use thin drills to separate the tooth from the filling so we don’t actually “drill” the amalgam, thus reducing contact, heat and mercury vapor.
  • The amalgam is safely disposed in mercury-contaminated containers.
  • Clothing, equipment and all surfaces and flooring are thoroughly cleaned with special removal chemicals.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER DENTAL AMALGAM REMOVAL ?

After the amalgam fillings are removal, the teeth are treated immediately using Bio-Compatible materials such as BPA-free (for more information read here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5039892/) and HEMA-free (https://www.nationalelfservice.net/dentistry/restorative-dentistry/dental-adhesive-systems-hema-free-hema-containing-systems/) dental fillings or metal free, ceramic inlays or crowns.

Following the procedure, patients are reminded to:

  • Drink plenty of fluids during the day
  • Avoid diary, processed foods, refined sugars, lots of caffeine
  • Consume mainly healthy fats, plenty of vegetables
  • Take lots of sun for Vitamin D
  • Get lots of sleep
  • Chlorella which is a natural supplement that actively helps the body to detoxify. It is made of freshwater algae and is the plant that contains large amounts of chlorophyll.
  • You may also want to try a diet rich in cilantro and garlic which are powerful plants that assist the body in the detox process.
  • Depending on the amount of dental amalgam that has been removed, additional steps may be necessary, such as a specific heavy metals detox protocol, which will be advised by your specialist.

IS IT PAINFUL TO REMOVE DENTAL AMALGAM FILLINGS ?

The actual removal of the amalgam filling is similar to having a regular filling or cavity treated (along with all the safety protocols). Local anaesthesia is used to “freeze” the tooth so no pain is involved.

IS IT EXPENSIVE TO REMOVE DENTAL AMALGAM FILLINGS ?

Removing an amalgam filling and replacing it with a safer material is comparable in price to a regular filling, however, this may vary from patient to patient.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO REMOVE DENTAL AMALGAM FILLINGS ?

RMost appointments are around 60-90 minutes in duration. Even though the protocols for mercury removal are very strict, it procedure does not take much more time than a regular filling.

WHY SHOULD I DO MY DENTAL AMALGAM REMOVALS AT DR.ROZE BIOHEALTH CLINICS?

Good health begins in the mouth and this is why biodental practices exist.

The dangers that are associated with amalgam fillings along with the concerns regarding toxins that are frequently used in oral care materials have made it necessary to consider other ways to handle dentistry.

At DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH, we have taken great care to ensure that you and your body, are safe, happy, relaxed and in control. We have a well-established procedure for
amalgam filling removals as well as a personalised removal and detoxification program to match your health requirements. And we take care to safeguard environmentally-friendly procedures take place in disposing of the mercury product.

CERAMIC IMPLANT

WHAT IS A CERAMIC IMPLANT?

A dental implant is a “post” that is surgically inserted in the jawbone to act as a root for an artificial tooth when a natural tooth is missing. A ceramic tooth is inserted onto this post that looks and feels just like your own teeth.

Although, traditionally, implants have been made of titanium, we at DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH CLINICS have been adopting a metal-free policy, keeping in line with the standards and philosophy of biological (or holistic) dentistry, which is why we use ceramic or zirconia dental implants for our patients.

WHY WOULD I NEED A CERAMIC IMPLANT ?

When a tooth is lost, it can lead to a life-long of complications and health issues. The underlying bone will begin to disintegrate leading to a sunken appearance of the face, thus creating problems with biting, chewing and speaking. Healthy teeth surrounding the missing one may also be susceptible to cavities and become misaligned. Dental implants can protect your teeth, bite and jaw and stop bone loss.

For the past 60 years, the science of replacing a missing tooth with an implant has been evolving steadily.
The material, titanium which is a metal, is often still used in many practices. However, the newest and latest technology on the market is by far the most advantageous – ceramic or zirconia. These advanced dental implants are 1-piece or 2-piece and contain no metal whatsoever, so people with metal allergies or sensitivities are not affected. And they are more natural-looking and very compatible with bone materia. The jawbone can grow around the implant making it firm and stable.

Ceramic, or zirconia, dental implants were approved by FDA in 2007 and have over 50 published clinical studies. They have been booming in popularity in Europe and quickly gaining popularity in the US. It is the product of choice by the biological, or holistic, cutting edge and leading progressive dentists concerned with using the highest quality materials for patient restorations and implantation.

WHAT IS ZIRCONIA ?

  • Zirconium is actually a metal. To create the sophisticated metal-free implant, only the ceramic element of zirconium, known as zirconia oxide is used – and this is metal-free. We find this material incorporates well into the bone and there is less of a chance of rejection by the body.
  • Zirconia itself being non-metal, won’t have corrosion and wear, high strength, exceptional hardness, high fracture resistance, high radiopacity (the inability of electromagnetic radiation to pass through a material) and low thermal conductivity. Because of its high biocompatibility, it is used in medicine and dentistry.

BIOLOGICAL SOLUTION FOR MISSING TEETH

Ceramic dental implants are an ideal option for patients who practice a holistic life-style. These non-metal implants do not prevent the movement of energy throughout the body. Because of the biologically compatible material, we often find that ceramic implants prevent the release of toxins and bacteria into the body helping to prevent inflammation around the implant. They are becoming more common as a missing tooth solution as their strength and aesthetic benefits become more recognised. We find they help build a stable oral foundation for optimal function, overall health and a beautiful smile.

WHAT ABOUT TITANIUM VERSUS CERAMIC IMPLANT ?

It is understandable that you may be concerned about making the right choice for your dental well-being. We believed that titanium implant affects the whole body and produce corrosion, allergy, heavy metal intoxication, chronic inflammation, antenna effect with cellphone and galvanic current.

  • There is a large amount of data that you can investigate. It is also imperative that you choose a dentist who is experienced and is specifically qualified in ceramic dental implants and has taken the biological dental approach whole-heartedly and seriously.
  • The ceramic technique is different and the result depends to a large extent on the skill of the dentist.
  • At DR. ROZE WELLNESS CLINICS, we focus on top-quality progressive dentistry with a biological approach. We have found that ceramic implants have been a superior alternative to titanium dental implants with long-term durability and safety.

WHY IS THE CHOICE OF DENTAL IMPLANT MATERIAL SO IMPORTANT FOR BIOCOMPATIBILITY?

Replacing teeth in the oral cavity is a process that occurs in one of the most inhospitable environments in the human body. These implants are subject to larger temperature and pH variations than anywhere else. This is why it is so important to make sure the material that is being attached to your mouth is not going to corrode or cause allergic reactions and that it bonds perfectly with your jawbone. The material must be biocompatible, have good mechanical properties, look good, feel natural and show high success rates.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF CERAMIC DENTAL IMPLANTS?

There are SO many reasons to chose ceramic implants! Our choice for these implants is mainly about how we look after our patients with a biological approach to dentistry, in that we focus on the whole person, not just the mouth. Ceramic dental implants are:

  • ideal for allergies and sensitivities. An increasing number of individuals suffer from metal allergies, sensitivities or other immune reactions. Placement of non-metal, ceramic implants is a new and effective solution to these challenges.
  • biologically friendly. For those choosing a holistic protocol for healthcare and prefer a non-metal option, this all ceramic/zirconia implant is an excellent choice.
  • aesthetically beautiful. Ceramic implants are more attractive in appearance since they closely match natural teeth. The beauty is in the naturalness of the material.
  • totally biocompatible. They do not trigger an immune response that can cause problems
  • integrate entirely into the jawbone creating a stable bone and bone regeneration
  • much less sensitive to changes in temperatures: than with metal implants
  • do not corrode over time like metal
  • do not conduct electrogalvanic fields which is the case of metal implants
  • show less plaque adhesion as they reduce the build-up of oral bacteria that often occurs with the slight and gradual movement of metal implants.
  • have very good gum regeneration results

INNOVATION FOR OUR PATIENTS : NobelPearl™ IMPLANT

A soft tissu friendly implant solution : our ceramic Implant NobelPearl is designed to support a natural soft-tissue appearance. Unique metal-free, two-piece ceramic dental implant solution : Its white material is especially beneficial in patients with a thin mucosal biotype.

CERAMIC DENTAL IMPLANTS FOR PEOPLE WITH METAL ALLERGIES?

Ceramic implants make it possible for patients with metal allergies or compromised immune systems to replace missing teeth. These implants are hypo-allergenic and safe for those with such sensitivities.

In some cases, a sensitivity to metal may only become apparent after the placement of a titanium implant. Such problems can occur such as itchy gums, irritation of failure to graft which may lead to bone loss. With ceramic dental implants there is no risk of such compromise.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT THE IMPLANT WILL LOOK LIKE ?

With our special Smile Design and Digital Surgery Planning, we can make sure your new teeth are exactly the way you want them. We will take some pictures of your mouth with our special digital camera then create a scan to allow us to make a complete 3D analysis of your teeth and bone. You are part of the process when we design your new smile and can see what the results will look like before you approve the treatment.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY CERAMIC DENTAL IMPLANTS ?

  • At DR. ROZE WELLNESS CLINICS, we design implants for the immediate replacement of teeth. Through thorough consultation, medical history evaluations and dental health exams, we can determine how the procedure will provide you with optimal results.
  • Ceramic dental implants allow us to provide you with a shorter implant process that metal implants as they are more stream-lined, have increased comfort and function sooner afterwards due to the increased biocompatibility and strength of the ceramic implant.
  • Our new state-of-the art innovative implant procedure uses computer-guided technology to determine the best placement of implants, and accurately insert posts within one hour. This procedure also drastically decreases the procedure recovery period, and most patients can even eat comfortably the same day.

BIOLOGICAL EXTRACTION

BIOLOGICAL EXTRACTION

Tooth extractions are necessary to remove non-restorable or infected teeth from the oral cavity. It is important to know about the periodontal ligament that experiences destruction from periodontal abscesses, as well as the supporting bone structure.

This is why a biological extraction is important. During the extraction procedure, our Doctors will remove all diseased tissues along with the non-restorable tooth.

The outstanding difference in a tooth extraction lies in the education of removing surrounding diseased tissues, if left in tact, it will only slow or inhibit total healing. Unresolved infections lead to chronic degenerative diseases throughout the body, depressing the immune system.

The intensity of a tooth extraction is unpredictable; mentor-ships, education, and experiences guide the doctors in the oral surgery process to ensure the patient is properly cared for. Patients will be provided cold laser treatment in the chair to increase successful healing, along with home care instructions and the comfort healing protocol.

WHY DO WE LOOSE A TOOTH ?

  • Infection: extensively decayed tooth that is infected and can not be restored due to amount of damage.
  • Fracture: extensive fracture that can not be repaired with any type of dental restoration.

HOW DOES A BIOLOGICAL DENTIST PROCEED THIS EXTRACTION ?

  • Diseased, infected, and/or inflamed tooth is removed with atraumatic minimally-invasive techniques.
  • Tooth socket, or extraction site, is thoroughly cleaned of infected tissue and debris from extraction.
  • Periodontal ligament is removed to promote proper bone healing.
  • Blood clot formed in socket and instructions given for care extraction site following procedure.

Optional additions to the above procedure:

  • Ozone is used in area around the extracted tooth to disinfect and promote healing.
  • Biological Homeopathic remedies are injected in the tissues around the extraction.
  • Ozonated Olive Oil for post-procedure healing at home.
  • Homeopathic options for pain and inflammation control
  • Ear and/or Nasal Ozone treatments to promote further healing – done over follow-up visits (1-6 appts).

WHAT ARE THE PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE AFTER A BIOLOGICAL TOOTH EXTRACTION ?

  • If you have a biological dentist, make sure you do Ozone therapy after extraction to remove infection, speed healing, and reduced inflammation. If PRP is an option, take it.
  • Do NOT attempt to talk for at least 4 hours. It will interfere with blood clotting.
  • Make sure your surgeon gives you gauze, or have it on hand —you’ll need alot the first day Ice area for 24 hours, off and on
  • After 12 hours, begin salt water rinse after each meal (I just did baby food in the pouches)
  • Sleep elevated for 48 hours
  • Avoid straws, swishing, and mouthwash

WHAT HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES CAN I TAKE PRE AND POST TOOTH EXTRACTION ?

1.  Prevents physical shock, bruising, soreness, dental pain, and bleeding gums after dental work/extractions.

  • Before procedure: 3 pellets under tongue
  • After procedure: 2 pellets every 1/2 hour for first 3 hours
  • Continue with 2 pellets every hour til end of day, then as needed

2. Heals nerve damage after surgery.

  • Before procedure (day of): 3 pellets every 2 hours
  • After surgery: 3 pellets 3x / day

3. Ledum Palustre 30c: Promotes puncture/wound healing, especially where the injection was.
4. pellets 3x/day if needed

NUTRITIONAL + IMMUNE BOOSTING RECOMMENDATIONS

Start taking these things a few weeks before your procedure:

  • Vitamin C: liposomal is best (and it’s liquid!)— do not use Vitamin C two days BEFORE a procedure with anesthetic as it can delay the effects
  • Elderberry: gets the immune system up and prevents illness
  • Collagen Hydrolosate: Collage speeds wound healing and will also provide you a tasteless, bioavailable protein that can be added to any beverage or smoothie
  • Kelp Granules: boosting iodine is extremely important for immunity, this is a simple way to get it by just sprinkling on foods
  • Very important to gum and dental health, MSM is an organic source of sulfur, an antioxidant mineral and critical component of structural body tissues such as cartilage
  • D/K2: D is critical for the immune system and it must be taken with K2 to ensure it goes where it needs to. K2 is also very important for proper blood clotting.
  • Oxylent antioxidant + electrolyte packs for preventing dehydration and extra vitamins: for fighting inflammation and boosting immunity

Please feel free to contact our surgeons if you wish to proceed with a biological extraction :

ozone dental therapy dubai

OZONE DENTAL THERAPY

The administration of ozone has been used for many years in medical and dental practices (see history of ozone therapy below…link history section below).
It was proposed because of its antimicrobial, disinfectant, bio compatibility and healing properties. In the last decade more treatments with ozone have been developed to address common dental infections associated with gum disease and tooth decay. With the proper usage of ozone therapy in biological dentistry, ozone therapy offer more effective care and considerably cut down the time and cost of the treatment.

For more information, see the scientific studies on ozone dental therapy:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3276005/
https://www.intechopen.com/books/ozone-in-nature-and-practice/ozone-in-dentistry

WHAT IS OZONE THERAPY ?

Ozone dental therapy is a biological dental treatment that significantly reduces the presence of oral bacteria. It is minimally invasive and works to halt the development of tooth decay which is done by eradicating the bacteria that damage tooth enamel that causes the decay.

With ozone dental therapy, the damaging bacteria that break down tooth enamel are eradicated by altering the oral environment. In the gaseous or liquid phase, ozone has shown to be a powerful and reliable anti-microbial agent against bacteria, fungi and viruses.

HOW DOES OZONE DENTAL THERAPY WORKS ?

At DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH, we have found that ozone therapy has many benefits that fit the model of biological dentistry:

  • It can be used to treat early tooth decay and gum disease
  • Patients experience no discomfort during treatment
  • Eliminates the need for drills or invasive procedures
  • Helps to minimise patient anxiety
  • It is very safe and an ideal option for young children
  • Allows the opportunity for the tooth to re-mineralise and become strong again

WHAT OTHER WAYS CAN OZONE DENTAL THERAPY BE USED ?

Ozone therapy has effectively been used for several dental treatments that we offer at DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH CLINICS:

  • Tooth sensitivity – we have found it to be a successful treatment for patients who suffer from ensitivity, resulting in fewer issues with cold and hot sensations after treatment.
  • Gum disease – ozone therapy’s ability to ward off bacteria has proven to be highly beneficial.
  • Root canal treatment – we use ozone therapy to sterilise the canal to reduce the risk of infection and the need for further treatment.

CAN OZONE DENTAL THERAPY ACTUALLY REPAIR CAVITIES ?

Ozone dental therapy has been very successful in treating minor to medium levels of tooth decay. However, if you are experiencing severe tooth decay, the advancement of the decay and bacteria may be too rigorous and a filling may be required. It is best to take preventative action with your teeth so your treatments are as easy as possible.

IS OZONE THRAPY SAFE ?

Ozone therapy is a treatment that has actually been used for decades for the treatment of many diseases and the eradication of bacteria. It is completely natural and free from any side effects that can be caused by medications or invasive treatments. As it is simply a gas, the Ozone therapy is completely safe and can help maintain a healthy mouth.

IS THERE ANY PAIN INVOLVED WITH OZONE DENTAL THERAPY?

Ozone therapy does not involve any drilling or injections, so it is painless! It is a non-invasive therapy for treating early signs of tooth decay and gum disease and used for both children and adults alike. We find is especially effective for patients who are nervous at the dentist but want to keep their mouth healthy and cavity free.

HOW IS OZONE DENTAL THERAPY ADMINISTRED ?

Our dental ozone therapy system creates a free-flow of ozone that is delivered to teeth and gums. It is used with our normal high-speed suction to get rid of the any overflow of ozone. The tooth, gum area or even root canals and deep gum pockets will be bathed in the ozone gas for the required exposure time, depending on the amount of infection

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT WHEN RECOVERING FROM OZONE DENTAL THERAPY ?

One of the more notable benefits of ozone therapy is recovery time as it is minimally invasive. And since there is no drilling, topical numbing treatments or pain medications, you won’t feel tired and groggy – you will simply return to your daily routine as soon as your treatment is finished.

THE ACTION OF OZONE :

Ozone is capable of killing the known types of most positive and negative bacteria, including some that are extremely resistant antibiotics. The effect on bacteria by ozone is by damaging the cell membrane and contents. The action is selective to microbial cells and does not damage human body cells. The discovery of the effects of ozone therapy have had a significant impact as it acts not only to kill bacteria, but to stimulate blood circulation and activate the immune system as well.

HOW DOES OZONE WORK TO REPAIR A CAVITY ?

  • If the cavity is at the early stages, ozone therapy can act to heal it. Following the ozone treatment, mineral-rich solutions soaked into the teeth can help to re-mineralise the area, thus hardening and reversing the effects of decay. Multiple ozone treatments over time may be required to improve the chances of the tooth healing.
  • If the tooth decay is more severe, ozone therapy will not work to re-grow the entire decayed area. But with small areas, ozone therapy can be effective in the re-growth process.
  • But we must stress that however effective and powerful ozone therapy is at helping to re-mineralise a tooth, it is very important to keep your regular oral health routine maintained. You need to brush, floss, eat/drink well and visit the dentist for regular cleanings to keep teeth healthy!

WHAT ELSE CAN OZONE BE USED FOR ?

Ozone has also been used to comfortably eliminate canker sores and cold sores in the early stages. The affects are immediate and have been very effective. Also ozonated water and oils can be mixed with water and/or plant extracts to use as a mouth rinse to treat mouth infections, promote healthy gum tissue and accelerate surgical healing.

THE FUTURE OF OZONE THERAPY

Ozone therapy has a wide range of uses in biological dentistry. New treatments are advancing in the use of ozone to whiten teeth instead of using bleaches. And entire mouth ozone therapy sessions are being further developed for controlling gum disease, reducing cavities and reducing infection and inflammation. It is changing the way dentists fix teeth and aiding the biological dental field to maintain our oral health in so many important ways.

WHY DR ROZE BIOHEALTH USE OZONE FOR DENTAL THERAPY?

At DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH, we are committed to providing patients with the latest biological technologies and methods to maintain excellent oral health and offer natural and conservative treatments in oral hygiene. If you require preventative or restorative treatment, ozone dental therapy is one way on this path of holistic dental health. We are a team of highly skilled and trained specialists that are passionate about biological, preventative oral health.

cavitation

CAVITATION

WHAT IS A “CAVITATION” or N.I.C.O (Neuralgia inducing cavitational osteonecrosis)?

A cavitation (or by the formal name, Ischemic Osteonecrosis) is the process when there is a lack of blood supply to an area of bone thus resulted in “dead” bone. We usually see this occurring in the jawbone. It will be seen as a hole in the jawbone which can occur after a tooth extraction that did not heal correctly.

WHAT GOES ON AFTER A TOOTH EXTRACTION ?

  • Traditionally, it is assumed that after a tooth has been extracted, your system will act to heal the hole that has been left by a missing tooth.
  • Often in cases, this is true. However, many tooth extractions can lead to a pathological defect that is known as cavitation.
  • There exists a periodontal ligament that consists of several very thin fibers that act to attach the tooth to the jawbone. When a tooth is extracted, these fibers are broken and some are often left in the socket.

Osteoblasts are specialized cells in a bone that function to repair and grow new bone material. When a tooth is removed, the osteoblasts are prevented from filling the socket of the tooth with new bone by the periodontal ligaments, as these ligaments act as a barrier to prevent osteoblasts from growing bone when a tooth is in place.

The ligament fibers need to be removed very effectively and precisely in order for the bone to grow in the socket properly.

Trauma – an infection or dry socket can occur. (Especially by wisdom teeth extraction which are usually removed at a young age, between the years 14 to 20 years. Young people suffer from several mineral deficiencies due to a strong growth spurt. In many cases, all four wisdom teeth are removed at once under general anesthesia, focusing on the shortest surgery possible. It is difficult to keep all 4 wounds clear of debris. Usually, it is the case that the wound is not fully cleaned and sterilized.

At DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH, we have found that the most effective ways to sterilize is with laser or ozone therapy. We also try to avoid massive use antibiotics and cortisone which tend to block the immune system’s natural healing process.

Toxic trauma –periodontal disease, abscess, root canal bacteria or remaining dental materials after extraction can lead to bacteria causing a disruption in the healing process. Again, at DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH, we have found laser or ozone therapy to be of great value with treating bacterial infections.

Risk factors –such as smoking, stress, alcoholism, blood-clotting disorders, age (arteries in the jaw tend to decrease in size withage), chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, bone dysplasia, changes in atmospheric pressures, osteoporosis, thyroid dysfunction, bisphosphonates (medication for osteoporosis), can all be factors that increase the risk of cavitation.

WHAT IS INSIDE THE CAVITATION THAT WE CANNOT SEE?

Inside a cavitation, bacteria flourish and deviant cells multiply. Cavitations act as a breeding ground for bacteria and their toxins. Research has shown these bacterial waste products to be extremely potent.

Story of the bacteria causing cavitation:

  • Due to the large number of bacteria inside the mouth, they get into the open socket of the tooth easily. When the bone does not have the ability to fill in the socket’s defect, the cavitation that is newly formed becomes infected.
  • Once bacteria are trapped in a cavity after surgery, they can incubate for several years, leak toxic residue within the blood stream and lead to numerous health challenges that are localized to the jaw as well as other parts of the body. Along with bacteria, this area may host additional harmful elements that include parasites, fungi and viruses.
  • Research shows that these toxins can combine with heavy metals like
mercury and chemicals to form Highly potent toxins.
  • Neurotoxins can be released into a person’s blood stream over time and destroy many critical and essential enzymes inside the body. This is a scenario that can occur under what is medically known as normal tooth extraction circumstances.

The lack of blood supply to a cavitation results in tissue death or necrosis.

  • The defect causes a disruption field on the acupuncture meridian that can impair the health and function of other structures, organs and tissues on the meridian.
  • Cavitations are also known as a hole in the bone, osteonecrosis or osteomyelitis. These are hollowed out holes or areas that consist of a cavern occurring when active bacteria successfully departs from the original
surgical site and beings to form within the actual jawbone.
  • Each extra hole that is created by this process fills up with decaying tissue and bone that leaves more potential for bacteria and neurotoxins to grow and thrive. This caustic mixture of poison eventually leaks Into a person’s bloodstream and can amplify or cause other health problems in the body.

HOW COMMON ARE CAVITATIONS ?

Recent studies involving patients aged from 19 to 83 years found cavitations in approximately75% of all extraction sites examined. The most commonly extracted teeth, the wisdom teeth, showed cavitations in 88% extraction sites. Not all the cavitations found were related to pain or chronic known conditions.

HOW CAN CAVITATIONS BE DIAGNOSED ?

At DR. ROZE BIOHEALTH CLINICS, we use our CT-scan to diagnose the cavitations (or NICO) mostly present in the wisdom teeth area.

  • A systematic biopsy to confirm the diagnosis of NICO follows the treatment (surgical debridement, ozone, PRF (Platelet-rich-fibrin).
  • Diagnosis is difficult due to the fact that some cavitations are almost invisible on standard radiographic films commonly used in dentistry. While cavitations can remain undetected for a long time in a healthy individual, jaw pain occasionally occurs in people who suffer from bone lesions. Also, after a sinus infection, jaw pain may manifest and lead to a cavitation being discovered. It seems that most people who seek to find out whether they have cavitations
also suffer from other major or persistent health issues.
  • An important step towards diagnosing cavitations involves using various diagnostic tools that may include an ultrasound device that is specially developed for this purpose, MRIs and Ct-scans. Muscle testing or applied kinesiology is considered to be the most effective method for detecting cavitations.

HOW CAN CAVITATIONS BE TREATED ?

Treatment of cavitations involves:

  • surgically cleaning the area remove all unhealthy bone (chronic fatty degenerative inflammation) and other problem areas such as abscesses, cysts, etc.
  • After removing the unhealthy bone, the goal then is bone regeneration.
  • Ozone and/or Laser therapy is then used as a sterilizing agent, sealed with absorbable sutures, to prevent later contamination.

Prior to surgery, it is important to enhance the patient’s immune system and bone regeneration capacity. We will create dietary recommendations and food supplement lists with probiotics to help prepare as well as reduce inflammation and stress on the body.
